Santa Cruz Island About 20 miles from Ventura Harbor lays the largest Channel Island, Santa Cruz. Aslo the most diverse with interesting geological features inlcuding two mountain ranges, many canyons and a rugged shoreline. At least 600 plant species, well over 120 species of land birds including the endemic Island Scrub Jay, and a vast expanse of wilderness area exist for the curious to explore by land or sea. |
Santa Cruz Island, Scorpion Cove This National Park Reserve is a favorite for campers, kayakers and snorkeling. hikers can enjoy a wide range of trails that travel both inland and along coastal bluffs. The beach offers picnicking, sun bathing and excellent snorkeling with a small shallow kelp forest near the pier. Facilities include picnic tables and campgrounds on both the sun bathed beach or in the tree shaded area near the historic Scorpion Ranch buildings.
